Jade is an enigma. She has an exotic look, no doubt a result of her Puerto Rican/ Hawaiian/ Filipino/ Vietnamese heritage. But she doesn’t act exotic. She likes to play softball and touch football with friends—she’s an all-American girl.
When she’s on stage you can tell she loves showing off and teasing the guys sitting up close. But when she’s alone with you, looking up at you with those big dark eyes, she has a shy quality that makes you want to get close and protect her.
I interviewed Jade on a Saturday night, right after Hew Burney finished taking some pics of her for our May Dancer of the Month gallery (below).
How long have you been a dancer?
“About a year and a half. I worked as a model when I was younger. Then my sister became a dancer and recommended it to me. She taught me everything I know.”
Tell me something about yourself I’d never guess from watching your stage act.
“I’m a bookworm. My favorite movie is Harry Potter. I’m technically a nerd.”
Where do you see yourself ten years from now?
“I hope I’m traveling. I lived in Hawaii and I want to go back there. I want to travel to a lot of different places.”
