Las Vegas Burlesque This Week

Dee Dee Cupcakes Burlesque Dancer Las Vegas

Dee Dee Cupcakes Will Dance
at Stand Up & Tease on Saturday

Las Vegas burlesque fans have a good week to look forward to with three upcoming events.

If you’re not familiar with the Vegas burlesque scene, it’s a loose group of talented dancers and dance students who are reviving the traditional art of striptease, complete with shimmies, tassle-twirling, feather boas, and the long, slow removal of gowns and gloves.

These are fun shows, with a lot of energy and humor.

Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School (Thursday)

On Thursday, February 18, Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School will be meeting at the Artifice. Hosted by Michele Hengeveld, the event is announced on Facebook but with no details on theme or models.

Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School is a figure drawing workshop where burlesque dancers pose while you draw and paint pictures of them. Because it’s in a bar, you can drink while you’re struggling for inspiration. You can also compete in contests, and win wacky prizes.

The drawing session runs from 8 – 11 pm the third Thursday of every month. The Artifice Bar is located at 1025 First Street, Las Vegas. Bring art supplies. No talent required. Must be 21+. No cover charge but tipping the models is encouraged. Check out the cool art by Dr. Sketchy’s artists from around the world on Dr. Sketchy’s Tumblr page.

Nerdlesque Features the Music of Madonna (Saturday)

On Saturday, February 20, Nerdlesque will feature nerdy stripping to the music of Madonna, also at the Artifice bar. If you’ve always wanted to watch women wearing horn-rimmed glasses and pen protectors undress to Like a Virgin, this is the show. Performances this week by Neon, Loon A Tik, Spiderella, Sugar Rae Bones, Suzil Von, Darla Tiesing Cox, and a duet with Lolita Haze and Jack O’Hartz. Doors are at 7:30, show at 8. $10.00. Full bar. 21+

Stand Up and Tease (also Saturday)
