Melody Sweets, star of Absinthe (show review), is back with another one-night-only burlesque extravaganza. Her new show, “Call of the Wild! Jungle Burlesque,” will be presented on Saturday night, July 30, at midnight, in the Absinthe circus tent in Caesars’ Roman Plaza.
I have long been a fan of Absinthe, the crazy daredevil/circus/burlesque show that’s like a dirty (and hilarious) cousin of Cirque. If you read my review, you’ll note I raved about Melody Sweets, who does a truly carnal striptease as she sings. Both her voice and her body are worth the price of admission.
Every few months, Melody Sweets and other Absinthe loonies get together with some of the craziest performers from other Vegas shows and put on a high-energy cabaret /carnival style show. “Call of the Wild! Jungle Burlesque” will be one of these special performances. Most of the general public won’t know about this show. These are Vegas’ most magnetic and interesting performers doing their own thing for their local fans.
This show is a benefit for Sigfried and Roy’s Sarmoti Foundation, which protects the endangered big cats in the wild – tigers, lions, leopards, etc.
“Call of the Wild! Jungle Burlesque” will feature live music by a Vegas all-star band, including Eric Plante of O, Steven Lee of Donny and Marie, David Perrico of Pop Strings Evolution, Mike Benigno of MJ Live!, Del Cheetah of Criss Angel Mindfreak and Gabriel Falcon of Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns. Watch for performances by Melody Sweets, Lijana Wallenda and her Wire Walking Wonders, Scotty the Blue Bunny, Miss Exotic World, Trixie Little, death-defying crossbow stunts by Mr. & Mrs. G, King of Burlesque, Captain Kidd, and more.
Melody Sweet’s burlesque shows at Caesars don’t come around that often, so catch her if you can. In July of 2014, she did a show called “Shoot ‘Em Up! Bang! Bang! Wild, Wild West Burlesque.” And in December 2014, she presented “A Burlesque Christmas Spectacular.”
This show will be one night only. If you snooze you lose. Tickets for this show are $25 or $40 (VIP) if purchased in advance online from BrownPaperTickets.com. Must be 18+. (All proceeds from this show go to the SARMOTI Foundation.)
