Hotels, Casinos and Vegas Strip Clubs will be Packed [Update]
Two big fights are coming to Las Vegas in July, both of which will pack the hotels, casinos and the best Vegas strip clubs. If you’re planning a Vegas vacation on the weekend of either July 6 or July 20, you’d better book your room asap.
Sapphire Las Vegas Announces Fight Parties
Sapphire Las Vegas has informed me that the club will be screening UFC 239 with Jon Jones in the main event. (They will also likely screen the Pacquiao fight.) I expect to hear the fight party details at any time. They typically get a big crowd and are a lot of fun.
Typically, Sapphire screens big fights in their 300-seat Showroom, which has three of the largest HD screens in town plus TV monitors that wrap around the entire room. The club usually provides a sumptuous buffet for these events. Think barbecue, Asian dishes, gourmet Mexican from El Dorado Cantina, pasta dishes, fresh sushi, salads, grilled veggies, and a dessert station bigger than the one at Caesars.
There are also usually fight package deals with drink specials, bottle service, sometimes a hosted open bar. Expect the best dancers from Vegas, Hollywood, Phoenix and parts unknown to be swarming the club throughout the fight weekends.
Jon Jones vs Thiago Santos
On Saturday, July 6, UFC 239 will feature fan favorite Light Heavyweight Champ Jon “Bones” Jones vs challenger Thiago Santos at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Jones always draws a big crowd. He’s been an MMA fighter since 2008 and has never been beaten in the cage. His 24-1 record is marred only by a disqualification in a 2009 fight for illegal use of an elbow.
Santos has a 21-6 record, fighting mostly as a middleweight. He has not lost a fight since moving up to the light heavyweight division. Right now, the Vegas sports books are making Jones the favorite (at -600 vs Santos at +450), and I doubt these odds will change much.
Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman
On Saturday, July 20, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, legendary Filipino boxer Manny (Pac Man) Pacquiao, who currently holds the WBA welterweight title, will be challenged by Keith Thurman. Pac Man is the only fighter to ever hold titles in eight different weight divisions. But this fight will be no walk in the park for the 40-year-old Pacquiao. Thurman is ten years younger than Pacquiao and has a 30-0 record, with 22 of his 30 wins by KO. Thurman is known for his hard punches that put his opponents away quickly.
In 2016, Pacquiao was elected a Senator in the Philippines and he will serve as such until 2022. I believe he is the only sitting Senator to ever box professionally. His net worth is estimated at $190 million. Pac Man doesn’t need the fame or the money. He boxes for the love of beating the crap out of his opponents.
As always, blood sports go better with naked women. Again, I should have more updates on the Vegas strip club fight viewing parties any day.
